Jewish Festivals and Ceremonies
The Jewish calendar is based on the revolutions of the moon. Festivals and fasts occur throughout the year. The Jewish day commences at sunset the day before the normal Solar day. (For example, the Sabbath commences at sunset on Friday and ends at sunset on Saturday night).
